Welcome to 7/8 Homeroom!
My name is Elizabeth Reyes. I teach 7/8 grade homeroom, language arts, and grades 3rd-8th grades social studies. I am passionate about Catholic education and will continue to bring a dedication to learning, a passion for teaching, a caring heart, and a commitment to academic excellence to St. Edward School. My teaching experience has focused on Catholic junior high religion, ELA/literature, math, and social studies; and I enjoy junior high students’ enthusiasm, humor, and where they are in their development.
I joined the faculty of St. Edward School following tenure at St. Vincent de Paul School in Federal Way, and St. Vincent de Paul School in San Francisco. In addition to my work in the classroom, I organized International Days Workshops for Junior High, a global and cultural awareness project by the Archdiocese of Seattle Catholic Schools Department; tutored students who live in diverse socio-economic communities in Seattle through the Catholic Community Services of King County; presented workshops for teachers on EHL (Exploring Humanitarian Law) sponsored by the King County International Red Cross; organized school Geography Bee and Assemblies; prepared school-wide Masses and the Living Stations of the Cross, led junior high students to participate on the March for Life events; and prepared my class to participate on a simulated congressional hearing state showcase in Olympia, Washington to advance in national showcase.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Secondary Education with a major in Social Sciences at the Philippine Normal College (Manila, Philippines) and a Master Degree in Education -- Curriculum and Instruction from City University (Bellevue, WA). I am a Washington State certified K-8 Elementary Education and 4-12 Social Studies teacher.
With over 20 years of teaching junior high, I look forward to the opportunities to grow as a teacher and learner and to celebrate in prayer with so many wonderful students and families here at St. Edward School.
